Today began with such promise…preparing to head out of town with my girls and a couple of their friends for a state soccer tourney. The first thing I did was meet with a new volunteer for a little training–awesome meeting. Life is good. The sky is blue. Birds are singing.
On the way home my daughter calls to say that the washing machine is not draining. The machine has all of her soccer clothes in it for the weekend. Not good. Keep in mind we are supposed to leave in 2 1/2 hours. We came up with a quick plan to complete the laundry. (You must know that our washing machine is 25 years old…we bought it used when we first got married–gotta love Maytag)
Then, my husband and I headed to the airport to pick up our rental car. Renting a car is a must when your car has 225,000 miles on it. We get to the counter and the woman very sweetly wishes me a Happy Belated Birthday. And then proceeds to tell me my license is expired and they cannot give me the car that we have already paid for through hot wire. She suggested I go to the DMV to get my license renewed.
My response – I laughed……hyst-stinking-sterical.
My husband’s response – #$%@$%^#%$^%#^#%&.
So we proceed to the DMV, get lost on the way. Call a friend to act as on-star and get directions. We are prepared for a three hour wait. After all it is the DMV.
I am happy to say that we were pleasantly surprised and simply renewed my license through a self-serve kiosk, took my picture–although my chia-pet hair is in all it’s glory and I have no make-up on.
From the time we arrived at the rental car place until the time we arrived back at the rental car place, it was 38 minutes. Today I LOVE the DMV!!
Now, I’m off to pack and head to Nashville–please pray for our trip!!
