Do ever have days like this? Days where you are scared? Frustrated? In pain? Confused? Angry? Overwhelmed? Days when the lies bouncing around in your mind seem to be gaining control?
I have moments like this. More than I care to admit. I try my best not to broadcast it to the world. I remember very vividly my middle school band director giving a speech about “not airing our dirty laundry”. I’m sure at the time I sniffed my armpits to see if they were smelly. I’m sure the boy sitting next to me that I thought was so gorgeous was smelly. I’m sure the nuances of this wise counsel was lost on me at the time. But, clearly it made an impression on me because it has stuck with me all of these years. (Sometimes I wonder what Mr. Bryant would say to today’s teens and all their twitter, instagram, gifboom, etc.)
This past week I have started several posts and haven’t been able to finish any of them. Can you say writer’s block? Seriously frustrating…refer to the picture above.
Nothing bad was happening…things just piled up.
Last week my youngest daughter tried out for competitive soccer teams for the spring. That seems so far away!! Since she is starting high school this fall, the decision must be made NOW. She made a couple of teams and had to make a decision which team to play with. It was an emotional roller coaster. (Her motto is “I’m not indecisive, Am I?) We have walked with her each step of the way. For the record it is much easier to simply tell your child what to do than to give them the freedom to make their own decision.
Also…I have teeth issues and we’re trying to find insurance, blah, blah, blah, blah. But, I have been in serious pain and that is no fun.
And, we are still trying to decide what we want to do for summer family vacation which is in either 13 days OR 20 days. We don’t know where we are going or if we are going. See the paragraph above–it’s no fun when family vacation is potentially thwarted by teeth!!
So…writer’s block, maybe? Or, maybe I’ve just been a little distracted?
Something really cool happened though. A friend texted me and said..”Hey, just checking on you. Are you okay?” She noticed that I haven’t been blogging and was concerned. Made my day!! What a sweet friend.
Do you have any wisdom from your middle school years? (Keep it clean people, this is is a family-friendly blog!!)
