Sometimes it is easy to feel paralyzed by the pain and tragedy all around us. Sometimes it is easy to think there is nothing we can do. This past weekend I saw glimpses of glory in the actions of some sweet people. Sometimes the best thing we can do when our hearts are hurting is to serve others.
Five ladies gave up their time over the weekend to clean a Habitat for Hope apartment. They lovingly prepared this apartment for a family they do not even know. This apartment will at some point in the future be occupied by a family whose child is critically or chronically ill. They washed and folded laundry. They cleaned cabinets and counters. They scrubbed toilets and bathtubs. They wiped down blinds. They made beds. They prayed for the family. They served strangers they will likely never meet. This family will feel welcome when they walk into the door of that apartment as a result of their actions.
Jesus said…”Let you light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” He also said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Thank you Mona, Suzanne, Katie, Peggy and Shelley for shining your light!!
